About MCU Guide

MCU Guide is an independent fan site that puts every Marvel Cinematic Universe film, series and special in a clear watch order. This page explains how that order is built, where the information comes from and who keeps it up to date.

What MCU Guide is

The site lists the Marvel Studios titles in chronological story order and in release order, marks each one as essential, recommended or optional, and lets you tick off what you have seen, rate titles and keep private notes. Guides such as the beginner route, the essentials-only list and the marathon planner are built on the same catalog. MCU Guide is not affiliated with Marvel, Disney or TMDB.

How the watch order is decided

The chronological order follows the in-story timeline. Every title has a story position value (internally called story_sort) set by an editor, and the list is sorted by that value. Our reference is the timeline order that Disney+ uses for its Marvel collection. Where Disney+ gives no placement yet, for example for upcoming titles, we place the title from what the story shows and from official statements.

The release order is sorted by release date. Both position numbers are calculated automatically every time the catalog changes, so a new title can shift the numbers of the titles after it. The essential, recommended and optional labels are editorial judgments about how much a title matters for the main story.

Where the data comes from

Titles, release dates, runtimes, posters, cast and streaming availability come from TMDB (The Movie Database) through its API. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. For upcoming titles we only use official announcements from Marvel Studios and Disney, and dates can still change before release. Overviews, guides and character profiles are written by our editors.

Editorial team

The guides are written and maintained by a small editorial team. The editors publish under pen names, and each one covers a clear area. Open a profile to see the pages that editor wrote.

Corrections and contact

If you find a wrong date, a missing title or an order you think is mistaken, write to info@mcuguide.com and include the page address. We check the report against TMDB and official sources, and when it holds up we correct the page. Order changes apply to every language version at the same time, because all versions share one catalog.
