She-Hulk: Attorney at Law watch order and timeline
On our timeline the series sits between Thor: Love and Thunder and Werewolf by Night, a one-off Halloween special rather than a series. The next film in story order is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. None of these share a plot with Jen's story, so they mark when it happens, not what you need.
In release order it premiered in August 2022, in the later half of Phase 4. Our Marvel Phase 4 in order guide lists every film and series from the phase in sequence, which is handy if you are watching that stretch as a block.
What to watch before She-Hulk
The Incredible Hulk is the film to see first. Its villain, Emil Blonsky, becomes one of Jennifer Walters' earliest clients, and his history with Bruce explains why the case is so awkward for her. A few other titles add context without being required.
| Title | Why it helps | Needed? |
|---|
| The Incredible Hulk | Blonsky's history with Bruce | Recommended |
| Avengers: Endgame | How Bruce became the calm, smart Hulk | Helpful |
| Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Where Blonsky has been since | Helpful |
| Marvel's Daredevil | Background on Matt Murdock | No |
If you have little time, The Incredible Hulk alone covers the important ground. Everything else is a bonus.
What the show is about (no spoilers)
Jennifer Walters is a Los Angeles attorney with a sensible plan for her life. A car accident and a bit of her cousin's blood change that. She can now transform into a superstrong, six-foot-seven version of herself, and unlike Bruce, she keeps her own personality while doing it.
Jen has no interest in being a superhero. She wants to practice law, so she accepts a job running a new superhuman law division, where her clients are powered people with very odd problems. Each episode mixes a case with dating trouble, office politics and the weirdness of sudden fame. Jen also talks directly to the camera, and the show leans hard into that habit, especially near the end of the season.
How She-Hulk connects to the MCU
We rate it optional. It is a half-hour legal comedy, and later movies have not depended on its events. Its strongest connections are the characters who pass through: Bruce Banner trains Jen early on, Blonsky gets a surprisingly large arc, and Wong drops in more than once.
The biggest draw for many fans is Daredevil, Matt Murdock. He appears in the later episodes, lighter and funnier than in his Netflix days, and his scenes give an early look at how the MCU handles him before Daredevil: Born Again. If you like comedy and can live with plenty of fourth-wall jokes, it is an easy, short watch.
Credit scenes in She-Hulk
Several episodes include short extra scenes during or after the credits. They are mostly comedic, such as a follow-up to a conversation from the episode or a gag with a supporting character, and none of them carry story you need later. Let the credits run if you enjoy the humor, but you will not miss plot if you skip ahead.
Cast and characters
Jessica Gao created the series. Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters and, through motion capture, She-Hulk herself. Ginger Gonzaga is Nikki Ramos, Jen's best friend and paralegal, who handles everything from case files to wardrobe. Jameela Jamil plays Mary MacPherran, better known as Titania, a social media star who makes Jen's life miserable. Renée Elise Goldsberry is Mallory Book, a rival attorney who becomes a colleague, and Josh Segarra plays Pug, a coworker who turns out to be better company than he first seems.
Runtime and where to stream
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has one season of 9 episodes, each about 34 minutes, so the full season takes just over five hours. That short runtime makes it one of the quickest Marvel series to finish. In the US it streams on Disney Plus; outside the US, check the watch box on this page for local services.
What to watch next
Werewolf by Night comes right after on our timeline, a short and spooky change of pace. TV-first viewers can find the next series in our Marvel TV shows in order list.
