The nurse in the middle of it all
Claire works night shifts at a New York hospital and has a bad habit of finding injured vigilantes. In Marvel's Daredevil she pulls a beaten masked man out of a dumpster, stitches him up in her apartment and only later learns that he is Matt Murdock. From that moment on, her life keeps colliding with people who heal faster, hit harder or see more than ordinary humans.
What makes Claire special is that she never gets powers and never wants them. She is practical, brave and openly fed up with the men who keep landing on her table. In a genre full of chosen ones, she is simply someone who decided not to look away.

Claire is a guest in some shows and a co-lead in others. She has a much bigger role in Marvel's Luke Cage than her first appearance would suggest, and in Iron Fist she becomes part of the main group for the whole season.
Turning points along the way
Daredevil is where she learns the cost of helping a vigilante. Her friendship with Matt puts her in real danger, and the show treats that choice seriously instead of making her a damsel.
Luke Cage moves her to Harlem and gives her a partner who can actually take a punch. Claire is the one who pushes Luke to stop hiding, and the two develop a relationship that carries into later episodes. In Marvel's Iron Fist she brings her medical skills to Danny Rand's fight with the Hand and starts training at Colleen Wing's dojo, because she is tired of always being the one who gets hurt.
By Marvel's The Defenders, Claire knows every member of the team, and that makes her the natural person to get them in a room together. Few characters in the Netflix era can say that.

Her first and most complicated friendship is with Daredevil (Matt Murdock), the vigilante she patches up again and again. Luke Cage becomes the most important person in her life across two shows. Through Matt she also meets Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, the friends who run his law office and who only slowly learn how deep his double life goes.
Rosario Dawson as Claire
Rosario Dawson plays Claire as tough and funny without ever losing her compassion. She makes a supporting part feel like the most grounded person in a room full of superheroes, and her easy chemistry with every lead is a big reason the crossovers work.
Outside Marvel, Dawson is known for the musical Rent and the comic-book noir Sin City. Star Wars fans know her as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian and in her own series, Ahsoka.
How to watch Claire's story
Start with Daredevil, then Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and finish with The Defenders. That follows release order and keeps her relationships in the right sequence. If you are short on time, Daredevil and The Defenders cover her most important moments, but her arc with Luke Cage is the most rewarding part, so keep that show if you can.
