Avengers: Doomsday Countdown Posters Hit Disney+ in Doom Green

Avengers: Doomsday countdown posters on Disney+ with Doctor Doom green artwork

Disney+ has recoloured posters for The Avengers, Loki, Shang-Chi and more in Doom green to promote its 15-title Avengers: Doomsday countdown collection.

Marvel Studios and Disney+ have released a new set of Avengers: Doomsday posters that reimagine artwork from earlier MCU films and series in the bright green associated with Doctor Doom. The images promote "Countdown to Doomsday", a Disney+ collection of 15 films and shows to watch before the Phase 6 film opens on December 18. Steve Rogers, the original Avengers line-up, Loki and Shang-Chi are among the faces given the new treatment. For viewers, the collection doubles as the studio's own hint about which earlier stories matter before the next crossover.

What Marvel Studios and Disney+ Released

The new artwork appears as a banner on the Marvel homepage of Disney+. Each piece takes a familiar poster or image from a title in the countdown collection and replaces its background with a green pattern that echoes the stained-glass look of the film's marketing. The result ties older titles visually to the coming film without changing the characters themselves.

One of the most prominent images shows Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The picture was first used for Marvel Studios' tenth-anniversary celebration and has now been reworked in Doom green. Evans is part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast as Steve Rogers, so his place in the campaign carries extra weight.

Titles that belong to the collection are also marked on the service with a glowing green outline. That makes it easy to see at a glance which of the many MCU films and series Marvel Studios wants viewers to revisit first. The full collection runs to 15 entries, mixing films and Disney+ series.

The Avengers and Endgame Lead the Campaign

The Avengers receives one of the most striking redesigns. Its original key art, with Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye and Nick Fury, now sits against the green background. The choice takes viewers back to the first big team-up in 2012.

Seeing Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man framed in Doom colours is an unusual touch. In Avengers: Doomsday, Downey plays Victor von Doom, so the poster quietly links his first MCU role to his next one. Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth appear alongside him, and Hemsworth is also in the new film's cast as Thor.

Avengers: Endgame is one of the most visible titles in the collection. The 2019 film closed the Infinity Saga with Tony Stark's sacrifice, Natasha Romanoff's death on Vormir and Steve Rogers handing the shield to Sam Wilson. Its presence underlines how directly the next film builds on the end of that era.

Loki and Shang-Chi Join the Countdown

Loki stands out because its banner uses a promotional still from the Disney+ series instead of a poster. The show set up the TVA, the idea of branching timelines and Loki's place at the centre of the Multiverse. Few titles explain the mechanics behind the coming film as clearly.

Simu Liu's Shang-Chi also receives a Doom-green version of one of his best-known posters, showing the hero in action with the Ten Rings. The image celebrates the hero's 2021 debut, Shang-Chi, which brought him into the MCU. Simu Liu is in the cast of Avengers: Doomsday as Shang-Chi.

The inclusion follows an earlier moment of frustration. When Marvel Studios first shared a Doomsday watch list, Shang-Chi's film was missing, and Liu responded publicly with a one-word complaint. Its presence in the Disney+ countdown now puts the character back in front of viewers before the film arrives.

The Multiverse Titles in the Collection

The collection also leans on the films that built the Multiverse. Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are both part of it. Between them, they cover crossing realities and the incursions that threaten whole universes.

Deadpool & Wolverine rounds out the multiverse group, with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman featured on its poster. The 2024 film tied the X-Men corner of the franchise to the TVA and alternate realities. Its place in the countdown confirms that Marvel Studios sees it as part of the road to the new film.

Disney+ has used this kind of campaign before. In 2021, ahead of Black Widow, seven earlier films featuring Natasha Romanoff received matching posters in the style of her solo film. The Doomsday campaign applies the same idea to a much larger group of titles.

What the Posters Do Not Confirm

A character's face on one of these posters is not an announcement that the character returns. The artwork reuses existing images, so it features heroes whose stories have already ended alongside those who are in the cast. Only the cast list Marvel Studios has confirmed tells you who is actually in the film.

Marvel Studios has not published the plot of Avengers: Doomsday beyond what its trailers and official materials show. Reports about surprise returns and cameos continue to circulate, but none of them is confirmed. The countdown collection points to the important stories, not to specific scenes.

The collection is best read as a curated selection rather than a complete list. Fifteen titles cannot cover every thread of a franchise this size, and the Disney+ choice reflects what the studio wants to highlight now. Your own route can be shorter or longer depending on what you have already seen.

What to Watch Before December 18

The site's watch-order list names two direct prerequisites for Avengers: Doomsday: The Fantastic 4: First Steps and Thunderbolts*. If you only have two evenings, those two films give you the most direct setup. Both are also good entry points for viewers who stopped after Endgame.

With more time, add the titles the Disney+ campaign highlights: Avengers: Endgame, the Loki series, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine. Together they explain the Multiverse, the TVA and the end of the Infinity Saga. For anyone who has not met Simu Liu's hero yet, his 2021 solo film is the best extra pick.

If you want to go all the way back, The Avengers remains the natural starting point for the team itself. From there, follow the site's list in order and tick off each title as you go. It shows runtimes for every film, which makes it easy to plan the remaining weeks before the premiere.
