Where to watch Ironheart
Ironheart is a Disney Plus series, and in the US the full season is there to stream. Because all six episodes are available, you can binge it in a weekend or spread it across a week. Outside the US, availability depends on your country, so use the watch box on this page to see where it streams near you.
What to watch before Ironheart
The one title that matters is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Riri is introduced there as a student who built a vibranium detector, which drags her into Wakanda's conflict with Namor. The series opens after those events and assumes you know how she met Shuri and earned her first suit.
| Title | Why watch it | Needed? |
|---|
| Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Riri's debut and her first armor | Yes |
| The Iron Man films | Shows the kind of hero Riri is modeled on | Optional |
| Doctor Strange films | Background on magic in the MCU | Optional |
If you skip Wakanda Forever, the early episodes still work, but some of Riri's confidence and her baggage will feel unexplained.
Where Ironheart sits in the watch order
Ironheart premiered in June 2025 as part of Phase 5. In our story order it follows Thunderbolts* and comes before The Fantastic 4: First Steps. Neither neighbor is a real lead-in. Thunderbolts* tells an unrelated story, and First Steps takes place in a different universe altogether, so the placement is about timing rather than plot. You can move Ironheart earlier or later in a marathon without breaking anything. Our Marvel Phase 5 in order guide shows where it lands alongside the other shows and films of that stretch.
The story without spoilers
Riri Williams is a teenage genius from Chicago with more ideas than money. After things fall apart at school, she returns home to the South Side and keeps working on a new version of her armor, which needs funding she does not have. That is how she ends up working with a crew led by Parker Robbins, a charismatic thief known as the Hood, whose abilities seem to come from something very different from engineering.
That clash sits at the heart of the show: technology against magic, and a young inventor who believes every problem can be solved with better code. Riri's AI assistant, N.A.T.A.L.I.E., adds both humor and a personal edge, since the program is shaped by someone from Riri's past.
The tone is closer to a heist thriller than a cosmic adventure. Chicago neighborhoods, family pressure and money worries matter as much as the fights, and Riri is far from a polished hero. She makes bad calls, defends them stubbornly and has to live with the fallout.
Is Ironheart essential? Connections to the MCU
On our list it is optional. Nothing in the movies released after it depends on the series, and you can follow the Multiverse Saga without it. What it does offer is a deeper look at Riri Williams as a character and a new street-level villain with ties to the mystical side of the universe.
Watch it if you liked Riri in Wakanda Forever, if you miss the Iron Man style of hero who builds her own tools, or if you are working through every Phase 5 title. For the wider picture, the Multiverse Saga in order page covers Phases 4 through 6, and our Marvel TV shows in order list puts Ironheart next to every other series.
Cast and characters
Dominique Thorne returns as Riri Williams and carries nearly every scene. Lyric Ross plays N.A.T.A.L.I.E., Anji White is Riri's mother Ronnie, and Matthew Elam plays Xavier. Manny Montana is Cousin John, part of the Hood's crew, and Eric André appears as Rampage. Chinaka Hodge led the writing team.
How long it takes to binge
Ironheart has one season of 6 episodes, each about 51 minutes long. The whole series takes roughly five hours, which fits into a single long afternoon or two relaxed evenings. A good plan is three episodes per night, since the middle of the season is where the heist plot and the supernatural thread start to pull together. To fit it into a longer Phase 5 run, the marathon plan will build a schedule for you.
