If you are looking for where to watch Moon Knight, the answer in the US is Disney Plus, which carries all six episodes, and you can start them at any point in your Marvel run. The series needs no earlier movie or show, so on our timeline it simply sits after Ms. Marvel and before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It is optional, self-contained and one of the strangest stories of Phase 4.

Where to watch Moon Knight and how long it takes

In the US, Moon Knight streams on Disney Plus, the home of every Marvel Studios series. Outside the US, availability varies by country, so check the watch box on this page for the services listed where you live.

There is one season of 6 episodes, each around 50 minutes. That adds up to roughly five hours, which makes it an easy two-night binge. Splitting it three and three works well, since the middle episodes end on hooks that make stopping hard and the back half plays almost like one long story.

What to watch before Moon Knight

Nothing. Moon Knight is one of the very few Marvel shows you can start cold. It introduces Steven Grant, Marc Spector and the moon god Khonshu from scratch, and it never asks you to remember the Blip, the Avengers or any multiverse rules. Knowing from the Thor films that gods are real in this universe is a small bonus, nothing more.

Our story timeline places it after Ms. Marvel and before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In release order it premiered at the end of March 2022, a few months before Ms. Marvel, so the two orders flip. Neither neighbor shares characters or plot with it, which means the placement is about timing, not setup.

Moon Knight explained: the premise without spoilers

Steven Grant works in the gift shop of a London museum and knows far more about ancient Egypt than his job requires. He also has a sleep problem that keeps getting worse. He wakes up in places he does not remember going, loses whole days, and starts hearing a voice that is not his own.

The explanation is that he shares a body with Marc Spector, a former mercenary, and Marc serves Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon. That arrangement drags Steven into a fight with Arthur Harrow, a calm and very persuasive cult leader who wants to judge people before they do anything wrong. The show is part psychological thriller, part globe-trotting adventure, and it treats its hero's dissociative identity disorder as the core of the story rather than a gimmick. Much of the tension comes from Steven and Marc arguing over who gets control, often through mirrors and reflections.

How does Moon Knight connect to the MCU?

Barely, and that is by design. The series adds the Egyptian gods to the wider universe but never mentions the Avengers and does not lead into a specific later film. Nothing that follows on our list requires it, which is why we mark it as optional.

That independence is also the best reason to watch. It feels closer to a horror-tinged mystery than a superhero show, with a darker tone and a lead performance that carries most episodes. Our Moon Knight character page tracks where Marc Spector appears, and it will be the first place to check if he turns up somewhere new.

The Moon Knight post-credit scene (light spoilers)

Only the finale has an extra scene, and it plays partway through the credits. Without giving the details away, it answers a question the season raises about those lost days and reveals that there is more going on inside Marc's head than Steven and Marc know. It does not set up a named project, so treat it as a teaser for the character rather than homework for another title. Earlier episodes have no extras, so you can move on as soon as their credits start.

How many seasons are in Moon Knight?

One season with 6 episodes. Marvel has not announced plot details for a follow-up, so for now the series works as a complete story, and the finale wraps up the main conflict with Harrow.

Cast and characters

Oscar Isaac plays both Steven Grant and Marc Spector, shifting accent, posture and attitude so you can tell them apart within a line or two. Ethan Hawke is Arthur Harrow, soft-spoken and unsettling. May Calamawy plays Layla El-Faouly, who has her own history with Marc and her own reasons for chasing Harrow. Ann Akinjirin and David Ganly appear as Bobbi and Billy, and Kerim Hakim performs Khonshu on set. Jeremy Slater developed the series.

Who should watch it, and what comes next

Watch Moon Knight if you want a stand-alone Marvel story, enjoy Egyptian mythology or simply like Oscar Isaac. Skip it if you only follow the threads that lead to the next Avengers film. On our timeline Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes next, although the two are unrelated. TV-first viewers can use our Marvel TV shows in order list, and the marathon plan shows how much time the six episodes add to a longer run.
