Where to watch Avengers: Secret Wars
Secret Wars is a theatrical release first. No streaming service or date has been announced, and once the film leaves cinemas, availability will differ from country to country. The watch box on this page updates as real listings appear, so that is the place to check. Marvel Studios films have usually reached Disney Plus a few months after their theater run, but treat that as a habit of the past rather than a promise.

Where Secret Wars sits in the MCU order
It closes Phase 6 and with it the Multiverse Saga, the stretch of the MCU that began after Avengers: Endgame. Directly before it is Avengers: Doomsday. The Russos are making the two films back to back, so expect Secret Wars to pick up the threads Doomsday leaves open rather than start fresh. Its story year is still to be announced; we will place it on the timeline once Marvel confirms it or the film is out.
Right after it on our list comes Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.. That is a quirk of how we organize the timeline, not a story link. M.O.D.O.K. opens the group of animated series set outside the main timeline, which we keep at the end of the order. Marvel has not yet said how the main story continues after Secret Wars.
For the full run of team-up films, see our Avengers movies in order guide. If you only want this era, the Multiverse Saga in order list sets out every title from Phase 4 onward.
Avengers: Secret Wars explained: what is actually confirmed
Very little, and it is better to say that plainly. Marvel describes the film as an upcoming Phase 6 release and the finale of the Multiverse Saga. The title borrows the name of a famous Marvel comics event, which is why fans expect a story on a universe-spanning scale, but no plot has been announced. We are not going to fill the gap with rumors.
What we can describe is how the saga has been building. Variants, alternate timelines and a multiverse that keeps cracking under pressure have run through Phases 4 and 5. Doomsday is the next big step, and Secret Wars is positioned as the point where those threads meet. Anything past that is guesswork until Marvel shares more, and we will add a spoiler-free summary when there is something real to summarize.
Announced cast and characters
Robert Downey Jr. is listed as Victor von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom, a striking return for the actor who spent the Infinity Saga as Tony Stark. The Fantastic Four are part of the lineup: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes.
Our character tracker also connects the film to Sam Wilson as Captain America, along with Thor, Bruce Banner and the Black Panther legacy. Treat those as expected rather than confirmed. Casting for a film this size usually comes out in stages, and we will update the list as names become official.
Catching up on the Multiverse Saga
Doomsday is the only title officially required. A handful of recent releases still give you the most useful context going in:
- The Fantastic 4: First Steps, for Reed Richards and his family.
- Thunderbolts*, for the team built around Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian and John Walker.
- Loki, for how the multiverse works and why it keeps breaking.
- Captain America: Brave New World, for where Sam Wilson stands with the shield.
Short on time? Our essential Marvel movies and shows list trims the optional titles across the whole MCU. For this last stretch specifically, the Marvel Phase 6 in order page tracks every film as release dates firm up, and it is the quickest way to see what still needs watching before December.
